YA Scavenger Hunt, Featuring Jennifer DiGiovanni!
Note: The YA Scavenger Hunt is now over! Thanks to everyone who played and congrats to the winners! I’ll be leaving this post up for posterity, but note that the game is over as of April 8.
Welcome to the YA Scavenger Hunt for Spring 2018! I’m so excited to be participating for the first time, and to be a part of Team Gold! For those of you who might not be familiar with it, YASH is a bi-annual event that was first organized by author Colleen Houck as a way to give readers a chance to gain access to exclusive bonus material from their favorite authors…and a chance to win some awesome prizes! On this hunt, you not only get access to exclusive content from each author, you also get a clue for the hunt. Add up the clues, and you can enter for our prize—one lucky winner will receive one book from each author on the hunt in my team! But play fast: this contest (and all the exclusive bonus material) will only be online for 120 hours!
Want to play? Go to the YA Scavenger Hunt website to find out all about the hunt. There are SIX contests going on simultaneously, and you can enter one or all! As I said at the beginning of this post, I’m part of Team Gold—but there is also a red team, a blue team, a green team, a purple team, and a pink team, and each team gives you a chance to win a whole different set of books!
Here’s how it works:
- Find the secret number: Below, you’ll notice that I’ve hidden a special number. Collect the special numbers of all the authors on the gold team, and then add them up (don’t worry, you can use a calculator!).
- Send in your entry: Once you’ve added up all the numbers,
make sure you fill out the form here to officially qualify for the grand prize. Only entries that have the correct number will qualify! To be eligible for the grand prize, you must submit the completed entry form by noon (Pacific Time) on April 8th! Entries sent without the correct number or without contact information will not be considered.
- Fine print: Open internationally, anyone below the age of 18 should have a parent or guardian’s permission to enter.
If you’d like to find out more about the hunt, see links to all the authors participating, and see the full list of prizes up for grabs, make sure to check out the YA Scavenger Hunt website.
In the meantime, let’s get started with the game!
I’m so excited to be hosting Jennifer DiGiovanni, who has a fabulous Italian name and is also the author of Fire in Ice, Book 1 of The Generators series, which was a finalist in the Serendipity Literary Agency YA Discovery Contest:
After suffering a rare illness, straight-A student Cara Scotto struggles to deal with lingering side effects. Refusing to admit she can’t handle the disruptions in her otherwise normal life, she tries to move on and heal.
Alexander DeMarsh is unhappy about returning to his small hometown for three weeks. He prefers living in the city, where he attends an elite boarding school far away from his overprotective parents. Sure, they have reason to worry about him. As a Generator, Alex’s body constantly manufactures supernatural energy that’s often difficult to control.
Over winter break, Alex runs into Cara and picks up on the powers they share. Soon, he realizes Cara is the only person in the world who has any chance of understanding him. But first, he needs to find a way to draw out her supernatural abilities without revealing too many secrets of his own.
You can enter to win a copy of Fire in Ice by completing the Team Gold scavenger hunt, but in the meantime, grab a copy on Kindle now and start reading!

Jennifer DiGiovanni is the author of contemporary and light fantasy books for teens. Aside from writing fiction, she’s also a freelance writer and a small business owner. After graduating from college with a dual major in Business and English, she started out in the business world and eventually returned to school for her MBA. But she always seemed to choose jobs that involved a lot of writing.
Today, she spends her days managing a small business and writing. Some days she writes more than others, but she tries to spend her mornings working on fiction. She also likes to hike and run. Often, she’ll challenge herself to learn something new, from archery to video games to guitar, and call it future book research.
How About a Door Prize?
That’s it from Jennifer, but the fun is just getting started! After all, have you seen my exclusive reveal yet? The second book, New World, is currently scheduled for release on June 26. I can’t wait for you to see how Isaak and Nadin’s story continues!
Haven’t caught up with the series? You’re in luck! I’m giving away 3 ebook copies of Fourth World (Book One of the Iamos Trilogy) and Different Worlds, the tie-in novella that takes place between Books One and Two of the trilogy. Enter below!
